The Washington State University (WSU) Division of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General provides legal services to the state’s land grant university from the main campus in Pullman. The Division’s five attorneys provide legal services to the main campus, the three branch campuses (in Spokane, the Tri-Cities, and Vancouver), agricultural research and extension operations statewide, and extension field offices in every county.
WSU Division attorneys provide advice to the University on a host of legal issues, many of which are unique to an academic environment. Attorneys frequently provide advice on issues relating to: faculty research, ownership, and use of intellectual property; EEO compliance; WSU Extension; athletics and NCAA compliance; various student rights issues, and programs; faculty tenure and promotion; staff employment; University development; environmental health and safety; public contracting; constitutional rights; and services offered by the University. Division attorneys also provide representation on non-tort related litigation in a variety of forums.
